Evaluation Question 4
'How do you use Media Technologies in the Construction, Research, Planning and Evaluation Stages?'
In order to complete our final production, there were lots
of digital and media technologies implemented into the process, which I am
going to discuss in the presentation above.Sunday, 22 January 2017
Evaluation Question 2
How effective is the combination of your main product and
ancillary texts?
The creation of cross media branding and synergy across all
products is essential in order to successfully promote Heidi Holmes' brand
image and make the audience become familiar with her album concept. The
presentation below highlights the connections that we have created in our main
product and ancillary texts and whether we have been successful in our attempt
of establishing this connection.

Evaluation Question 3
'What Have You Learned From Your Audience Feedback?'
Music VideoAt the end of November we had completed our first draft music video. From this we were able to receive feedback from our teacher and our fellow peers, by giving us feedback we were able to work with what they were giving us and then improving our music video greatly.
This is our first draft of our music video:
From the feedback we had received we were able to adjust the issues that had risen and then make sure that all the imperfections were squeezed out until we and our teachers and peers could agree that our music video looked as if it was professional artists video.
Here is our final music video:
We had a professional music video director review our final video and here is what Jake Ringsell said:
"Heidi: Top marks - a really honest and well thought out piece. Adapted to the genre perfectly. This sort of concept is widely used in the industry for that feel good, nostalgic feeling cinematography, where the footage feels more like memories than a story. All the looks to camera and studio setting performance tie the whole piece together perfectly."
We also then decided to get some interviews, so we decided to take a couple of head shot interviews from the stars of other groups and this is what we found out from them:
From this we were able to see that our audience was able to understand the music video and relate it to the genre and theme of our artist and really understand the song and out artist in a way that without the photography effect and colour matching that they would not have been able to feel as much of as in our first draft, so from our re-make, as a team we all felt it worked just as we had hoped it to and that all of the hard work and energy spent was well worth it.
We also made a survey monkey review and this is what we found from it:
This was the first question we asked people to answer, 'From the music video, could you identify the genre?' and 10 people said yes, 2 people said no.
The last question we asked was 'Could you identify any themes throughout the music video?' and 11 people said yes and gave their view on the theme and only one person did not know.
First Draft and Final Version Comparison:
In response to the feedback we was given, some of the changes we made to the video were significant where as others were more discreet. We replaced some of the shots that were too shaky and unstable such as the shot before the transition of the first and second costume. However, we didn't want to change too many of the moving shots as it may take away the home video style of our video and make it more high production.
We also made a big change to the ending of the video, as we were told it was too anti climatic and a disappointment. We decided to film a whole sequence of her looking through all of the photos we took, which was represented using the black and white flash in the video. This added the more warm, homely feel to our video which we wanted to achieve. The photography theme is also clearly established at the end. We also added more colour correction across the video so that it flowed smoothly and looked more professional.
Digipak
Using our genre, theme and style of the artist we had to make a digipak, this had to be suitable and relate to our song choice. So again we made a first draft and then received feedback from our teachers and peers.
This is our first draft of our digipak:
So we asked people to have a look at our digipak and then give us feedback on whether not they liked it and why and then what improvements could be made or problems they saw with it.
This was their response:
So from this we were then able to change the digipak so that it would fit the criteria and fix the issues our peers and teachers had given us.
This is our final digipak:
Website
Through similar artist research we decided that our artist needed a website. So we decided to compare other similar genre artists' websites and then create one for our artist.
This is our first draft:

After this first draft we created a survey monkey to get feedback from our fellow peers and this is just a couple of pieces of feedback we received from them:
"Straight away I think the top banner cuts into the main page too much, it’s like I have my eye half closed, I would suggest just raising it slightly, there doesn’t need that much space between the artist’s name and the navigation button. I feel the fancy font works really well for the brand, the banner buttons and quotes but your bio should actually be less hassle to read, especially as it is a smaller size. The shops prices are a bit high considering you are meant to be a new and upcoming artist. Would drop things like the hoodies down from 40 and 35 to just 30 and t-shirts down to 20. The button at the bottom of the screen to get up to the top of the screen again; the arrow within the circle is off centre. A tiny detail that was slightly off putting. Overall you can see there has been a lot of effort put into the website see with the design of posters, brand symbols and photos…all these things have a continuity of style really establishing the artist. 8/10"
"I really like
the lightbox however maybe you could make it more personal so call your fans a
name like ‘beliebers’. I think that the font suits the genre and artist very
well. I don’t like how we have to scroll down and that everything is on the
same page. I would prefer it if each link was linked to another page. I don’t
like the black and white background as it doesn’t fit with the image of the
artist. I see black and white as serious and I think Heidi is much more fun. I
like the Instagram feed as it shows a different side to Heidi separate from the
person she is in the video. I don’t feel like the merch represents the synergy.
I like the more fun side of Heidi and the merch seems a bit serious. I’d give
this an 8/10."
So from this feedback we were able to work on the colours, fonts, sizes, images, features of the website and then create a final, professional looking website that would fit our artists needs and image.
This is what we created and our final Heidi Holmes website:

Tour Poster
For our artist we wanted to make the realism as close as possible and for this we decided that most artists will release tour dates in the form of a poster, so we decided to give this a try. So we researched what we needed to do and then this is what we got from the research:
We then decided to use Adobe Photoshop CS6 to make this tour poster and this was what we came up with:
Magazine Cover
For our artist we looked around a researched other similar genre artists and realised that most of them have been covered in a magazine or on the front cover of one, so with this idea we decided to make one of our own for our artist.
This was our first draft:
First Draft Feedback:
Then we also decided to make a magazine article on Heidi Holmes and this was that:
Evaluation Question 1
'In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?'
With our final products completed in order to conclude the reasoning behind many of our ideas we have completed this evaluation question. Within this question we have explained how we believe our artist conforms to typical folk conventions, thus making it clear to the audience the type of artist she is, and subverts to these conventions too, in order to make our artist stand out and unique compared to other artists in the folk genre.

Evaluation Question 4 Planning
'How do you use Media Technologies in the Construction, Research, Planning and Evaluation Stages?'
Today we completed the plan for the evaluation question 4. This enabled us to develop and create a solid structure to our answer which will be shown in a Prezi presentation. Below is a mind map of our planning displaying all the ideas and thoughts we had relating to this question, linking to the technological hardware and software we used in creating the sections in our promotional package.

Evaluation Question 2 Planning
'How effective is the combination of your main product and
ancillary texts?'
This is the question for evaluation question 2, and due to he vast amount of content that needs to be covered within this question we have created a plan to ensure that we do not miss out any vital information that is needed to be included for this question o be completed to the best of our ability.
